Mother's Day Poem

Dear Mother,

When I was all alone
you gave me comfort,

when I was sick and sorry
you gave me warmth.

When I was too tired to walk
you carried me.

I appreciate these things
though that time has long gone.

And now when I rise in the morning
my legs are strong
on the Earth
and I know the job was done well.

You were the first, and best doctor
of my heart
and its wishes.

I thank you.
